Club

The Comox Valley Aquatic Club is a competitive swim club for the youth of the Comox Valley. Our swimmers range in age from 5-18+, and in ability from beginner level to top National rankings. The swimmers, coaches, and parents who make up “The SHARKS” strive to create a fun and challenging atmosphere that fosters personal fulfillment, improvement, and excellence. We also aim to develop a strong sense of team pride as well as support for each member. Swimmers proceed at their own rate through the various levels of the club, with medals and awards as the move up through the early levels.

History

The Comox Valley Aquatic Club was founded by a group of energetic parents in 1975, and was incorporated as a non-profit society in 1987. CVAC is growing into a multi-faceted organization offering something to everyone. CVAC’s growth really started to accelerate when fundraising in the form of bingo was secured. The BC Government Community Gaming Grant has also allowed CVAC to expand their pool time and coaching staff to its current level.

During the early years the club maintained a regional focus, competing mostly on Vancouver Island. The club has since blossomed into a top-ten provincially-ranked club and has consistently placed athletes in the Top 10 age group ranking in the country. We have also had many swimmers perform up to a level that allows them to compete at National Championships and Olympic Trial meets. We are very proud of all our swimmers’ accomplishments and wish them continuing success in this year and years to come.

Organization

The Club is organized into different groups depending upon each swimmer’s stage of development in swimming. This ranges from novices to national level swimmers –as long as you are comfortable in the water, we have a place for you.
